Bella is 3 years old and has been battling brain cancer (anaplastic ependymoma) for more than half of her life. Instead of being able to enjoy being a toddler, she has been literally fighting for her life.
She has been subjected to 8 brain surgeries to date, multiple rounds of chemotherapy and has spent a large amount of her short life in hospital. She has a long, uncertain road ahead of her as current treatment options for childhood brain cancer are limited and have devastating side effects.
Brain cancer kills 4 out of every 5 people and kills more children than any other disease.
The purpose of Bella the Brave is to highlight the incidence of childhood cancer, particularly brain cancer and also raise some much needed funds for The Charlie Teo Foundation. Dr Charlie Teo has helped give us hope for Bella's future after being told that she was terminal and successfully removed her tumour. His aim is to find a cure for brain cancer and Bella the Brave wants to help. A world without brain cancer means a future for Bella.
